A 21-year-old Hamilton man is facing a drug trafficking charge following a police investigation into the alleged unlawful sale of psilocybin from a storefront in the city’s east end.

The Hamilton Police Service says members of its Division 2 HEAT Unit launched an investigation in January 2026 into a business operating as “Shroom Godz,” located at 1466 Main Street East.

On Feb. 13, officers executed a search warrant at the location. Police say Wesley Chevrier, of Hamilton, was found inside the business and arrested without incident.

Investigators allege officers seized approximately 1,642 grams of psilocybin in various packaged forms during the search.

Chevrier has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule III substance (psilocybin), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police say he was transported to Division 20 and later released on an undertaking.

Authorities note that psilocybin remains a controlled substance under federal law, and warn that selling controlled drugs outside the federal regulatory framework is illegal. Police add that businesses operating in Hamilton are expected to comply with all applicable legislation.

Anyone with information about the unlawful sale of controlled substances is asked to contact the Division 2 HEAT Unit at 905-546-2963. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers Hamilton at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
