Ontario Provincial Police say that on New Year’s Eve, police arrested a driver from Hamilton for allegedly driving a pickup truck missing one wheel on the QEW near St. Catharines.

OPP said they received a complaint around 11:20 p.m. on New Year’s Eve that a person was driving a pickup truck with only three wheels on the Toronto-bound QEW near Welland. Police also received reports that sparks were seen coming from the vehicle.

Police located the vehicle in Grimsby and charged the 47-year-old Hamilton driver with impaired driving. He faces charges including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and operating a vehicle while his licence was suspended. Police added that his breath test showed alcohol levels more than twice the legal limit, and an investigation found his driver’s licence has been suspended since 2001.
