Halton police investigate after man in 20s shot dead at Burlington Centre Mall

A man has died following a shooting at a shopping mall in Burlington late Monday night. 

According to Halton Regional Police, the incident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Burlington Centre Mall, located at 777 Guelph Line. Police say the victim was shot  and officers were dispatched to the scene soon afterward. 

The injured man was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Omer Niaz Muhammad, 24, of Burlington.  

Investigators are searching for two suspects who fled the scene in a white SUV. No arrests have been made at this time. Police believe the shooting was targeted and say there is no ongoing threat to public safety. 

Police are asking anyone who may have security camera or dashcam footage from the area of Guelph Line, Prospect Street, or Fairview Street around the time of the incident to come forward.
