Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he is considering filling in part of Toronto’s waterfront for a new convention centre.

Ford has said several times over the past week that the city needs more convention space and that the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a terrible site.

He says a new convention centre could cost a few billion dollars.

The Globe and Mail reports that two sources say Ford is considering multiple sites across Toronto’s waterfront for his idea of a massive new convention centre.

Ford says they have a lot of fill right now and he wants to expand the land along the waterfront.

The premier has recently said his proposal for the new centre would cause “shock and awe.”
