Durham, ON – Cambridge Man Charged Following Online Child Exploitation Investigation

A Cambridge man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into alleged online child exploitation, Durham Regional Police confirmed this week.

The investigation, led by the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, began in late February after officers received information about an adult male allegedly communicating with a 14-year-old girl online, sending sexually explicit messages and attempting to arrange an in-person meeting.

On July 11, members of the ICE Unit arrested Brian Campos Bolanos, 30, without incident. He now faces four charges related to sexual exploitation, including luring a minor for sexual assault and for the purpose of creating child pornography.

Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Investigators say Bolanos used the online aliases ‘Nyke’ on Discord and ‘sir.campos’ on Snapchat.

Anyone who may have been in contact with these usernames or has relevant information is asked to contact Detective Constable McGovern of the ICE Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5542.

The investigation remains ongoing.
