The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has charged a correctional officer after a month-long investigation into alleged contraband transportation at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex.
Police say the investigation began in early February 2026, after allegations surfaced that an officer was transporting prohibited items into the facility, located at 661 Martin Street in Milton. Authorities did not specify the nature of the contraband.
Following the investigation, HRPS announced that on March 19, 2026, Adrian Deonarine, 33, of Mississauga, was charged with one count of breach of trust by a public officer.
Deonarine has since been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date in Milton.
