Police have laid multiple charges following a January shooting at a home in Vaughan, with investigators saying at least one suspect is still at large.
According to York Regional Police, officers were called to the area of Madeira Avenue and Genoa Road shortly before 5 a.m. on January 18, 2026, after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a vehicle parked in a driveway riddled with bullet holes. No injuries were reported.
The case was taken over by the Firearms Investigations Team, which determined that at least two individuals were involved in the shooting.
On February 15, 2026, Toronto Police Service arrested a suspect and seized a firearm during an unrelated investigation. That arrest helped investigators link the individual to the Vaughan shooting.
Police have identified Shane Harty, 27, of Toronto, as one of the suspects. He now faces a series of charges, including multiple firearm-related offences, possession of property obtained by crime, and mischief to property over $5,000.
Investigators say at least one additional suspect has yet to be identified.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be provided directly to York Regional Police or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
