Canadian government has warned travellers  to avoid from demonstrations in US cities like Los Angeles . Protests sparked by immigration raids broke out in Los Angeles on June 6 and have since spread to other major U.S. cities, including Chicago and New York. Despite opposition from California’s governor and local authorities, U.S. President Donald Trump has deployed Marines and the National Guard to Los Angeles in an effort to restore order. In a travel advisory update issued late Wednesday, Global Affairs Canada advised travellers heading to Los Angeles and other affected cities to “follow the directions of local authorities, including curfew regulations.”

Currently, a curfew is in place across much of downtown Los Angeles, running from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. PDT. “Additional curfews may be implemented with little warning,” the advisory warned. “Stay informed through local media for real-time updates.” A spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada urged Canadians to consult the Travel Advice and Advisories webpage for the latest information.
