Brampton man charged for manslaughter after fatal parking lot altercation

Police have laid a manslaughter charge against a Brampton man following a fatal altercation earlier this month. 

According to a police news release, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. on January 12, 2026, in a parking lot near Castlemore Road and McVean Drive. An argument broke out between the accused and the victim. During this verbal dispute, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, causing serious injuries. 

The victim was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on January 15, 2026. 

On January 20, police identified and arrested the suspect as 25-year-old Abdifatah Ahmed of Brampton. He has been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
