Brampton, ON – A Brampton resident is facing criminal charges after Peel police launched an investigation into threats directed at Mayor Patrick Brown and his family.
The threats were reported in late June 2025, prompting enhanced security measures for the mayor and his loved ones while police worked to identify a suspect.
Following an in-depth investigation by Peel Regional Police’s 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, which involved the execution of search warrants and the seizure of electronic devices, authorities arrested 29-year-old Kanwarjyot Singh Manoria of Brampton on Tuesday, July 15.
Manoria has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to Mayor Brown, his family, or the public, and they believe the accused acted alone.
