Caledon, ON – A 24-year-old Brampton man is facing multiple charges following the discovery of suspected stolen property and altered vehicle trailers at a storage facility in Caledon, police say.

Peel Regional Police confirmed the investigation began earlier this month when officers attended an outdoor storage lot in Caledon on July 11. There, they reportedly found six trailers that had been re-VINed — a term used when a vehicle’s identification number (VIN) is illegally changed or replaced to conceal its origin.

In addition to the trailers, officers also recovered an estimated $56,000 worth of stolen goods connected to previously reported thefts.

Following the investigation, Satwinder Singh was arrested on July 22 and is now facing 13 criminal charges, including:

  • Six counts of tampering with a vehicle identification number
  • Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime

Police say Singh had rented the Caledon facility where the items were stored. He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation remains active. Peel police are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Commercial Auto Crime Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3310. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
