A Brampton man is facing criminal charges after police say he repeatedly harassed and attempted to extort his former employer months after leaving his job at a Guelph restaurant.
According to investigators, the man’s employment ended in October. Police allege that in the months that followed, he made repeated trips to Guelph to confront his former boss, including showing up at the restaurant, following her to her home, and posting negative online reviews.
The complainant told police she had paid the man more than what he claimed he was owed, but said the behaviour continued despite her efforts to resolve the matter.
On Thursday, a 21-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged with extortion and criminal harassment. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 13.
