A 34-year-old Brampton man is in custody after Peel Regional Police linked him to multiple dangerous driving incidents involving attempts to evade officers.
The arrest followed an initial encounter on March 18, when police tried to stop a prohibited driver near Bovaird Drive and Sunforest Drive, but he fled. The suspect was located again the next morning near Sunforest Drive and Wexford Road, where officers executed a coordinated takedown. The driver attempted to escape by reversing into a police cruiser, but officers safely contained the vehicle, avoiding a pursuit.
Police say the man had previously fled from officers in at least three separate incidents, putting public safety at serious risk each time. A replica firearm was also recovered at the time of his arrest.
Iqbal Dhatt faces multiple charges, including flight from police, dangerous driving, and weapons-related offences. He remains in custody, and further charges are expected. The investigation is ongoing, with a parallel review now underway by the Canada Border Services Agency.
