Armed smash-and-grab at Richmond Hill jewelry store: suspects at large

York Regional Police are searching for at least three suspects following a daytime smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Richmond Hill on Friday, March 20, 2026. 

The incident occurred around 5:39 p.m. near Yonge Street and Carrville Road, when three masked individuals armed with hammers entered the store, smashed display cases, and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry. 

The suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan, later recovered by police and found to have been fitted with fake licence plates. No injuries were reported during the robbery. 

All three suspects are described as Black males in their mid-to-late teens with thin builds. They were wearing dark clothing, including masks, hoodies, track pants, sneakers, and gloves. One suspect carried a red duffle-style backpack. The getaway driver’s description has not been released. 

Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
