Two teenage males are facing charges following an alleged armed robbery in Whitby on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
According to police, officers from the Central West Division responded to a call in the area of Taunton Road East and Garden Street, where two male youths threatened another youth with a weapon while demanding his jacket and satchel. Investigators later identified the suspects and took them into custody shortly afterward without any incident. The weapon used was determined to be a conducted energy weapon (taser).
The victim was unharmed and did not sustain any physical injuries.
A 14-year-old male from Whitby has been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a prohibited device, robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, and disguise with intent. Another 14-year-old male from Whitby has been charged with robbery. Both youths were released on an undertaking.
