A male pdestrian was fatally struck by a train near Guelph this morning.
Guelph Police Service said in a news release that shortly after 6:30 a.m. today, a man was struck by a train east of Guelph Central GO station. The collision prompted a response from emergency crews, who pronounced the individual dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, as they are working to notify next of kin.
Police say that following the completion of the investigation, the area was cleared and reopened to traffic. Train service along the Kitchener GO line has since resumed. Passengers are encouraged to check the official GO Transit website for the latest service updates.
