Toronto Police Service (TPS) have released an update in the ongoing homicide investigation into the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy last year. Investigators say two people have been arrested and one suspect remains outstanding.
Detective Sergeant Phillip Campbell of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit provided the update Thursday morning in a media conference.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the area of Emmett Avenue and Jane Street. Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire and located 15-year-old Jahkai Jack suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect fled the scene. The killing marked Toronto’s 14th homicide of 2025.
Police announced that on February 24, 2026, 19-year-old Jayden Samuel-James of Toronto was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. He has appeared at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
The following day, on February 25, 2026, 21-year-old Rajveer Gill of Toronto was arrested in British Columbia in connection with the investigation. He has also been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and is in the process of being returned to Toronto.
Investigators say 20-year-old Abdul Yeberebaba of Toronto is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder. Police have released his image and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.
Anyone with information about Abdul Yeberebaba’s whereabouts is urged not to approach him and to contact police immediately.
