The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested one suspect after a lengthy investigation into a series of residential break-and-enters in Milton, with a second suspect still outstanding.

Police say break-ins surged in 2025, typically after sunset and targeting unoccupied homes backing onto trails or greenspaces. Investigators allege the suspects accessed properties from trail systems, jumped fences, smashed rear patio doors, and quickly searched homes for high-value items such as gold and jewelry.

They are also believed to have used e-scooters to travel quietly through trail networks before returning to a nearby getaway vehicle identified as a white 2021 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor.

On Feb. 17, 2026, officers executed search warrants in Mississauga, including at the home of 29-year-old Abliamit Ziiadinov, where jewelry, trail cameras, and electronic devices allegedly used for surveillance were seized.

Ziiadinov faces 26 charges connected to 13 Halton-region break-ins between September and December 2025, including break and enter and disguise with intent, and was held pending a bail hearing.

Police estimate more than $400,000 in valuables were stolen, along with significant property damage. Officers are contacting victims and returning recovered items.

A second suspect remains outstanding, and investigators believe the pair may be responsible for additional break-ins in Milton and surrounding communities.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.Detective Sgt. Kevin Magee says the case reflects a broader rise in organized “crime tourism,” involving coordinated theft groups targeting homes across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario.
