Toronto police have arrested a 33-year-old man following a late-night firearm incident in the city’s downtown core earlier this week 

Officers were called to the area of Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East at approximately 11:04 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, after reports of gunshots. Police allege the accused discharged a firearm into the air before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. 

The Toronto Police Service’s Gun & Gang Task Force working alongside officers from 51 Division, launched an investigation into the incident. 

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, investigators arrested William Clowes, 33, of Toronto. Police allege that at the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a loaded firearm. An image of the seized weapon has been released by investigators. 

Clowes faces multiple charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of prohibited or restricted weapons without authority, as well as several counts of failing to comply with probation and release orders
