Peel Regional Police (PRP) are investigating alleged unprovoked attacks that took place in Mississauga last month and are urging additional victim or anyone with information to come forward.

According to a police news release, the incident occurred on Friday, January 30, at approximately 7:40 p.m., near Dundas Street East and Dixie Road. Investigators allege that a suspect, identified as 58-year-old Kent McKerron, attacked a woman with a metal rod in what police describe as an unprovoked assault. The woman was transported to hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Police also allege that at around 7:30 p.m., the same suspect allegedly assaulted a man who was waiting for a bus in the same area. The male victim was struck with a metal rod and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers responding to the scene located and arrested McKerron a short time later. He has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Investigators are also attempting to identify another potential male victim who may have had contact with the accused prior to the fatal attack. He is described as a White male wearing a green jacket, blue jeans, and a black toque.

Police believe there may be additional victims who were assaulted or targeted by the suspect. Authorities are asking anyone who may have been victimized, witnessed the suspect before the incidents, or has dash camera footage from the area to contact the Homicide Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 3205.
