Toronto man charged in suspected hate-motivated criminal harassment case

Toronto police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old man in connection with a suspected hate-motivated criminal harassment investigation. 

Police allege that between July 1 and December 29, 2025, the accused assaulted and threatened a victim, repeatedly harassed them, and kicked the victim’s dog. Investigators say the accused also made anti-2SLGBTQI+ comments toward the victim during the incidents. 

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, police located and arrested Kheiver Kayode Roberts of Toronto. 

He is facing charges of assault, wilfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal, uttering threats, and criminal harassment. 

Roberts is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on on March 19, 2026 

Toronto Police say the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence by the Hate Crime Unit.
