Police are searching for at least three suspects after a fire was deliberately set inside a home in Oshawa late Tuesday night.
Durham Regional Police say officers from Central East Division were called to a residence near Richmond Street East and Ritson Road North at approximately 11:30 p.m. on February 3, 2026, following reports of a house fire. Investigators allege that three male suspects entered the residence, started a fire, and fled the area before police arrived.
When officers reached the scene, the main floor of the home was fully engulfed in flames. A male occupant was evacuated from the residence and taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Oshawa Fire Services responded and successfully extinguished the blaze.
Police say the suspects fled the area in a black sedan prior to officers arriving.
Images of the suspects and the vehicle have been released as part of the investigation.
Investigators also confirmed that the same residence had been the scene of a previous shooting. On November 21, 2025, police were called to the home after the homeowners discovered that both the house and a vehicle had been shot at. That shooting is believed to have occurred the night before, on November 20, 2025, around 11:25 p.m.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. on February 3, and who may have information or video footage, to contact police at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2743.Anonymous tips can also be provided to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
