A 45-year-old Hamilton man is facing drug trafficking charges after being arrested at Jackson Square late last month.
Hamilton Police Service say officers were on routine patrol in the downtown core when they observed a man inside the Jackson Square food court at 2 King Street West. The encounter happened around 5:00 p.m. on January 30, 2026. Police say the man was in possession of suspected controlled substances and cash.
Following an investigation, police seized approximately 45.59 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with $1,873.85 in Canadian currency, two mobile phones, and additional drug-related paraphernalia.
Darrell Mayer, 45, of Hamilton, has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl and Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000.
Police say the accused was arrested, transported to custody, and later released by way of an undertaking.
