Man arrested in multiple vehicle break-ins in Mississauga

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a man believed to be responsible for dozens of vehicle break-ins across Mississauga. 

Investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau say they received a surge of reports in December 2025 involving vehicle break-and-enters in the areas of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue, and Regents Terrace. Police allege a total of 48 vehicles were targeted. 

Following an extensive investigation, supported by the BEAR Unit and uniform patrol officers, police arrested 20-year-old Basil Ass’ad, who has no fixed address, on Jan. 26, 2026. 

Ass’ad is charged with 48 counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, five counts of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and fraud under $5,000. 

He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
