Two charged after stolen vehicle forces way into industrial property and rams police in Vaughan

Two suspects have been charged after a suspicious vehicle intentionally rammed against a marked police cruiser during an investigation in the City of Vaughan.  

York Regional Police said that the incident happened on Sunday, January 18, 2026, around 10:40 p.m., near Highway 7 West and Jane Street. Police located a stolen Toyota SUV that had forced its way through a security gate into an industrial property and attempted to flee. 

Officers contained the vehicle and arrested two people as they tried to run. The driver became combative, gave false identification, and was found to be impaired by alcohol or drugs. A search of the SUV uncovered break-and-enter tools and a quantity of a controlled substance. 

Police have charged two people in connection with the incident: 

Daryl Horne, 42, of no fixed address, faces multiple charges including motor vehicle theft, dangerous and impaired driving, flight from police, and three counts of breaching probation. 

Laura Irvine, 34, of the City of London, is charged with possession of break-in tools, stolen property over $5,000, and a controlled substance.
