Toronto Police Service is investigating a fraud involving a credit card scam that resulted in approximately $4,000 worth of transactions in an elderly victim’s bank account.
According to police, the incident occurred on December 29, 2025, when the senior victim received a phone call from a suspect claiming to be a credit card investigator. A police release say that caller allegedly told the victim that their credit card had been compromised and instructed them to cut up the card. The suspect then said a ride-share courier would come to the victim’s home to collect the card.
Subsequently, a ride-share driver arrived and picked up the victim’s credit card. A short time later, the victim discovered that approximately $4,000 in unauthorized transactions had been made from their card.
Investigators believe two suspects were involved in the fraud. Suspect #1 is described as a male between 25 and 35 years old, clean-shaven with a possible light mustache. He was wearing a black Nike toque, a red Morocco soccer jersey with the number 7, black pants, and a black zip-up sweater. Suspect #2 was wearing a green jacket with the hood up.
The suspect vehicle is described as a black or dark-coloured four-door BMW X5, model years 2019 to 2023. Police have released images of both the suspects and the vehicle.

Toronto Police are reminding the public to guard against fraud by never handing over cards, PINs, or personal information, being cautious of unsolicited urgent calls, verifying account concerns directly with financial institutions, avoiding pressure tactics, consulting a trusted person before acting, and reporting any suspicious activity immediately to police and banks.
