Hamilton Police Service is investigating an attempted murder and are looking for a 34-year-old Toronto man. According to Hamilton police, officers responded to a stabbing incident at the Red Rose Motel on Queenston Road on Friday, January 2, 2026,
Police said that the female victim was pulled out of a car and allegedly attacked by the suspect. Police said that the victim and the suspect knew each other. The woman sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
The police have classified the incident as an attempted murder, and the suspect has been identified as a 34-year-old Toronto man named Joel Benjamin. Hamilton police say this man is wanted in connection with the investigation and have asked the public for help in locating him.
Police have released a photo of the wanted suspect and urged anyone with information to contact Detective Dan Harris at 905-546-4067, or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
