Toronto Police Service has charged a man in connection with a homicide.
Police provided details in a news release that on Friday, December 26, 2025, at around 8 p.m., a stabbing victim was found in the area of Joe Shuster Way and King Street West. Police responded to the scene.
It was reported that one person was found in critical condition. Officers located the victim suffering from stab wounds and transported him to hospital for treatment. The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police have identified the victim as 32-year-old Marcel Cardiff of Toronto.
Through the investigation, police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Matthew Brown of Toronto, who was arrested on Sunday, December 28, 2025. He has been charged with second-degree murder. This is this year’s 42nd homicide in the city.
