Peel Regional Police have charged 20-year-old Jagdeep Singh from Brampton in connection with allegedly threatening a person with a weapon and possessing a fake weapon after an incident on Saturday morning involving a transit rider.

Police shared information about the incident, stating that on Saturday, December 27, at around 1 a.m., in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Drinkwater Road in Brampton, the suspect allegedly approached the victim after they got off a bus and told them that he had a weapon.

After this, the victim contacted police and made a complaint. Police officers located the suspect a short distance away, and during an interaction with police, the suspect allegedly pulled out an imitation gun and threw it into a snowbank. At the time of his arrest, police say Singh was carrying a backpack that contained bunches of rope, rolls of tape, gloves, and two knives.

As a result, Brampton resident Jagdeep Singh, 20, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He was held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing. Police are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident to contact Peel Regional Police or Peel Crime Stoppers.
