Ontario Provincial Police have charged the driver of a transport truck in New Tecumseth after the truck was found travelling on a highway with a large block of ice on its trailer’s roof.

In a social media post, the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment shared details of the incident. Police said that around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, officers spotted a commercial truck on Highway 89 with a large block of ice on the roof of its trailer. After stopping the truck, police charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act for insecure load in a commercial motor vehicle.

Police have reminded drivers that snow and ice on vehicles can pose a serious danger to others on the road, and urged motorists to clear snow and ice properly from their vehicles before driving to avoid risks.
