The FBI has made public a new photograph of Canadian fugitive Ryan Wedding, the former Olympic snowboarder investigators accuse of overseeing a sprawling, billion-dollar drug network.

U.S. officials say the image posted to the agency’s social media channels is believed to have been taken in Mexico last summer. It shows Wedding lying shirtless on a bed, revealing a prominent chest tattoo. The origins of the photo, including who captured it and how it ended up in the hands of federal agents, remain unclear.

Authorities on both sides of the border have been releasing images of Wedding since October 2024, when he was first identified as the suspected leader of a cocaine-smuggling pipeline moving massive quantities of the drug from Colombia, through Mexico and Southern California, and into Canada.

Wedding, along with alleged lieutenant Andrew Clark, is also accused of ordering four homicides in Ontario. The U.S. Department of Justice further alleges he directed the killing of a key witness in January, a move prosecutors say was intended to derail the case against him.

Investigators believe the 44-year-old continues to hide in Mexico under the protection of the Sinaloa Cartel. Earlier this year, the reward for information leading to his arrest was increased from US$10 million to US$15 million. He remains on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list.
