An 18-year-old man is dead after a stabbing inside a Brampton apartment building late Thursday night.
As per the social media post of the Peel Police, emergency crews were called to the lobby of an apartment complex on McMurchy Avenue near Pagebrook Court at around 10:00 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the stabbing happened after an altercation broke out inside the lobby. While the motive remains unclear, investigators believe the attack was targeted rather than random. No suspects were located at the scene, and officers have yet to release any suspect information.
Constable Tyler Bell said the building was busy at the time of the incident, with numerous residents and vehicles moving through the area. “It is a very large complex with a lot of people coming and going” he said, noting that investigators are working to determine whether the victim lived in the building or was visiting.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area, especially those with dash camera footage, to contact investigators. The investigation remains ongoing.
