A Special Weather Statement is in effect for the City of Toronto, with strong winds forecast to impact the region from Wednesday through late Thursday or early Friday.
Environment Canada says winds are expected to gust between 70 and 80 km/h, beginning Wednesday and shifting throughout the period. Strong southwest winds will turn westerly Wednesday night before shifting to the northwest on Thursday afternoon or evening.
The agency warns the powerful gusts may lead to localized utility outages, and high-sided vehicles could experience difficulty on exposed roadways. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, as they may be blown around by the wind.
The strongest winds are expected to taper off by Thursday night or Friday morning.
