Environment Canada says most of Ontario will feel sweltering temperatures starting this weekend with a multi-day heat event expected to bring a humidex as high as 40.
The weather agency issued the heat warning on Friday afternoon, saying people can expect daytime highs ranging between 30 and 33 C and overnight lows of up to 23 C starting on Saturday.
The heat wave is expected to blanket most of the province, including Windsor, Thunder Bay, the Toronto area and Ottawa.
Environment Canada says the heat event is set to last into the middle of next week, when slightly cooler temperatures are expected.
The weather agency is advising the public to watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including headache, nausea and dizziness.
Friday’s heat warning is one of several issued by Environment Canada in Ontario this summer, where previous temperature records were broken in June.
