Arrest made in fatal shooting of Mohawk College student Harsimrat Randhawa

Hamilton Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the tragic shooting death of Harsimrat Randhawa, a Mohawk College student who was an innocent bystander. 

The incident occurred on the evening of April 17, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., near the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road. Randhawa had just left a nearby gym and was waiting at a bus stop when she was struck by a stray bullet during a violent altercation involving multiple vehicles. She was not involved in the conflict. 

Police investigations revealed that a dispute between the occupants of several vehicles escalated, resulting in multiple gunshots being fired. Randhawa was fatally hit by a single bullet. 

On August 5, 2025, Hamilton Police, with assistance from Niagara Regional Police, arrested 32-year-old Jerdaine Foster in Niagara Falls without incident. Foster appeared in court on August 6 and has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder.  

Detectives believe that at least seven individuals were involved in the violent altercation. The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify and apprehend additional suspects.
