A shocking incident captured in a viral video on June 11 shows a white Lexus being driven at high speed on a sidewalk near Bovaird Drive West and Gillingham Drive in Brampton. The footage depicts a reckless attempt to bypass congested traffic, narrowly avoiding pedestrians waiting at a bus shelter and passing through intersections – endangering public safety.
Following a thorough investigation by Peel Police’s Safer Roads Team, 56‑year‑old Ranjit Singh of Brampton was identified and arrested on July 8. He faces charges including dangerous driving and stunt driving. As part of the legal response, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days, and the Lexus has been impounded for 14 days.
This incident underscores the serious hazards posed by sidewalk driving, particularly in areas with pedestrian traffic. Peel Police’s swift action reinforces their ongoing commitment to road safety and public protection.
