60-year-old arrested following stabbing in Oshawa home

A 60-year-old Oshawa man is facing multiple charges following a stabbing at a residence in the city earlier this week. 

Durham Regional Police say officers from Central East Division were called to an armed person report in the area of Athol Street East and Ritson Road South on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.  

Investigators allege that a verbal altercation inside a residence escalated, resulting in one male stabbing another. 

Police arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident. The victim sustained serious injuries and was treated by emergency medical personnel. 

Robert Ryalen, 60, of Oshawa, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous. He was held for a bail hearing. 

These allegations have not yet been proven in court.
