Toronto police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a stabbing that occurred over the weekend.
According to a police news release, officers were called to the area of Broadview Avenue and Danforth Avenue at around 4:09 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, following reports of a stabbing. Investigators say the suspect approached the victim and asked for a cigarette. When the victim refused, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim. As the victim attempted to walk away, the suspect is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing him before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim and the suspect did not know each other.
Investigators further allege that shortly after the stabbing, the suspect attended a store in the area, selected several items, and left without attempting to pay.
Officers later located the suspect and took him into custody. Lamarana Diallo, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, possession of a weapon, theft under $5,000, and six counts of failing to comply with probation.
Diallo was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 10 a.m., in courtroom 106.
