An 18-year-old man has died and another remains in life-threatening condition following a serious two-vehicle collision in Pickering on Friday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Brock Road, north of Taunton Road, at approximately 8:05 p.m. on February 27, 2026. According to Durham Regional Police, a Toyota sedan travelling southbound on Brock Road lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes, and collided with a northbound GMC pick-up truck. The collision resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles.
Police say an 18-year-old male passenger in the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 21-year-old male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains in life-threatening condition.
The 42-year-old female driver of the Toyota and a 58-year-old male passenger were taken to a local hospital with injuries described as stable. The 56-year-old driver of the GMC pick-up was assessed at the scene and did not require further medical treatment.
Members of the Durham Regional Police Service Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
