15-year-old boy charged in connection with fatal shooting of teen at Tim Hortons in Scarborough

Toronto police have announced an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting inside a Scarborough Tim Hortons that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy last week. 

Officers were called to the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Bellamy Road North on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at approximately 4:09 p.m., following reports of a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found a teenage boy suffering from gunshot wounds. 

The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died. Victim has been identified as 16-year-old Kian Sam. The incident marks Toronto’s second homicide of 2026. 

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, police arrested a 15-year-old Toronto youth in connection with the case. The accused, whose identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of a loaded regulated firearm. 

The accused was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on February 10 at 10 a.m., in room 606.
