Peel Regional Police have arrested 13 individuals believed to be part of a violent criminal network responsible for a series of home invasions, armed robberies, and luxury vehicle thefts that have “terrorized” communities across the Greater Toronto Area. The investigation, dubbed Project GHOST, began after police identified a coordinated group involved in several violent incidents. The network is accused of targeting homes and high-end vehicles, often using weapons and excessive violence, including stabbings and shootings, to carry out their crimes.

According to Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, the suspects face a total of 197 criminal charges, including attempted murder, robbery, organized crime-related offenses, and firearms charges. Among the accused, five individuals have been granted bail. The suspects are from Mississauga, Toronto, and Brampton, and include several youths:

Mississauga

  • Muhammad Munzir Sultan, 21
  • Ounali Hussain, 25
  • Muhammad Raed Abbasi, 20
  • Mirza Arfeen Baig, 22
  • Melad Barghouthi, 24
  • Mustafa Alabd, 20
  • One youth, 16

Toronto

  • Arbaaz Amir, 22
  • Ngor Neli Deng Akuk Ngor, 20
  • One youth, 17

Brampton

  • Three youths, aged 15 and 16

On August 1, 2024, at around 2:45 a.m., three suspects attempted to break into a home on Maybeck Drive in Brampton after spotting a BMW parked in the driveway. After failing to gain entry, they fled in a white Acura. Roughly 30 minutes later, the same individuals broke into a home on Boathouse Road, demanding the keys to a Mercedes-Benz. During the robbery, three victims were stabbed, one critically, with a knife wound narrowly missing the victim’s heart. Two suspects were arrested shortly after through surveillance, and the third was later apprehended with stolen property. In another linked incident on September 10, 2024, the driver of a Lamborghini was shot and seriously injured in a targeted attack in Mississauga. Two suspects have been charged with attempted murder.

Through seized phones, statements, and other evidence, investigators tied the suspects to at least 13 additional home invasions involving thefts of luxury cars and jewelry across Peel and Halton regions. In total, the group is alleged to have stolen goods worth approximately $1.8 million. Police have recovered about one-third of the stolen items. Among the evidence seized were mobile phones, laptops, a replica firearm, and a quantity of white powder believed to be cocaine.

Police say members of the network had organized roles, including identifying targets, planning robberies, selling stolen goods, and recruiting youth into the operations. Peel Regional Police emphasized that they are working to connect the youth accused and their families with social support services to prevent further involvement in criminal activity. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be laid as police continue to uncover the extent of the group’s activities.
