A man was injured in a shooting in Brampton on Tuesday evening, prompting a significant police response in the area.
Peel Regional Police said the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of George Street and Queen Street.
The victim, an adult male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to investigators. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
Police confirmed that the suspect fled the scene. A heavy police presence remains in the area as officers continue their investigation.
Authorities are advising drivers to avoid the vicinity and use alternate routes to prevent traffic disruptions and allow for the ongoing police activity.
