A 57-year-old Kingston man has been charged following the interception of a suspicious package by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.

According to investigators, the package originated from China and was addressed to a residence in Kingston, Ontario. Upon inspection on January 23, 2026, CBSA officers determined the parcel contained a life-sized doll classified as child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The CBSA contacted the Kingston Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit, which launched a criminal investigation.

On February 3, 2026, police arrested the accused at a home in the area of Barnsley Crescent and Acadia Drive. He was taken into custody and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters, where he was held for a bail hearing.

The accused faces the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
  • Importing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
  • Failing to Comply with a Long-Term Supervision Order

Police say the accused was already subject to a long-term supervision order stemming from previous convictions related to child sexual offences.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say additional charges may be laid.

Anyone with information about suspicious cross-border activity is urged to contact the CBSA Border Watch Line at 1-888-502-9060.
