RED FM News Team surveyed key localities in Brampton and found that basement construction has been on a rise this year, as compared to previous years.
On further investigation, the following reasons came to light:
- Basement market has become very lucrative in Brampton
- Renting the basement is a way to secure income in uncertain times
- Some also alleged that funds may have been diverted from government provided interest-free loans of up to $40000 under Canada Emergency Business Account towards such constructions.
